I need a different HD cable

So I ordered the HD cable for my 2011 MacBook Pro or at least I thought it was the right cable to order. I'm not sure at what time of year the logic board architecture connection changed but the cable I received has the logic board connector running perpendicular to the cable like this: -I

However, the logic board connector I require for this MacBook Pro runs parallel to the cable like this: --

Did my description make sense? Do you have this type of cable that has a connector for the logic board structured in the fashion I mentioned above? I intend to keep the cable I originally purchased but would like to finish repairing the laptop I purchased the cable for in the first place.

Sounds like you got a 13" MBP cable instead of a 15" MBP cable, or you misidentified your machine.. I would also go with the 2012 cable as it is more substantial. Please give us the last four figures of your serial number to correctly identify your machine.

UPDATE

Your machine is a 13", you got a cable for a 15". Here's the specs on your machine: Apple MacBook Pro "Core i5" 2.3 13" Early 2011 Specs Identifiers: Early 2011 13" - MC700LL/A - MacBookPro8,1 - A1278 - 2419*

Sounds like you ordered the wrong cable. Actually, I would order the cable for the 2012 13" as it is more substantial. I also put pads on either side of the cable where it comes over the top to protect it.
