Talk and Play Cassette motor will not work.

If you feel like doing it, the following may assist in helping you determine what might be the likely cause of your problem.

With the volume adjusted to maximum, see if you can you hear any noise (very faint hissing sound) coming from the speaker when you turn the player on with a cassette inserted. Try turning it on and off and see if you can hear any clicks in the speaker- you may have to hold the speaker close to your ear to notice any sound.

If there is no sound at all, not even the faintest hiss or click from the speaker there is a problem with the power supply circuitry, which is probably affecting the whole player, given that the cassette is not turning as well.

If you can hear any sort of sound from the speaker when it is switched on, start the player with a cassette inserted and hold it to your ear and see if you can you hear the sound of a motor spinning, (again try turning it on and off to detect- you may be even able to feel that it is turning).

If so, there's a fair chance that the rubber drive belt has perished and needs replacement. If not, again there will be a problem with the power supply circuitry this time probably only involving the cassette section of the player.

Either way the unit will have to be opened to repair the fault.
