changing the plug, on the electric power cable, for the Dishwasher

Hi.

My dad just got my mom a new Dishwasher, and after installing it, we realise that the Plug isn't the same as the old dishwasher had (it was 20+ years old)

The old one had a 5-pin plug (but only 4 of them were in use)

The middle pin of the wall plug is like a L, and if you would look down on the plug, like the images show, the cables would be connected like this;

(Empty - Brown - Yellow/Green - Black - Light Blue)

The new one is a European plug with 2-pins, and like a hole where the earth-pin would be.

So, my question here is;

Is it safe, for the Dishwasher, that I switch the 2-pin plug out for the old 5-pin plug (Cut the new plug of, and put the old one on it) ?

Should i switch the wall plug out instead, so the new one fits the socket ?

Poul Martin Joensen can you post a couple of images of the wall plug and the the one on your Dishwasher? Use this guide Adding images to an existing question for that. Also, what Country are you located in?

Well, got an electrician to help me out, and he said that it was totally safe to cut of the new plug and replace it with the old one !

As there was only 3 wires inside the new wire, compared to the old 4 wired cable, he told me to do it like this;

The Yellow/Green wire (earth) must ALWAYS connect to the middle pin (L-shaped)

The Blue wire must connect to the pin furthest to the right !

The Brown wire can connect to either the second or fourth pin.

My "New old plug" looks like this now on the inside;

'Empty - Brown - Yellow/Green - Empty - Blue'

This answer is based on the original post and pictures therein, and when you look at the pictures of the old plug, the 1st pin is the one furthest to the left, and the 5th pin is the furthest to the right.

Hopefully this will help someone else with a similar problem !
