Replaced motherboard, need Blank Board Serializer Tool

Hi There,

I just replaced the broken motherboard on my MacBook Pro 2013 and now I need to re-serialize my motherboard.

Could someone post me either a link to the:

Blank Board Serializer Tool that is compatible with the 2013 model

or

Apple Service Toolkit Tool that is compatible with the 2013 model

Thanks!

You will need to go to an Apple Store for this. Bring documentation of the original systems purchase (matching the cases S/N).

Apple uses a newer tool which is not even available at the stores, only the service depot has it. Apple controls this tool very tightly, it needs to communicate to Apple and be authorized. You can't even use the older tool with the newest firmware releases on the older Mac's either.

An Apple store or service partner is a good idea because of the diagnostics they use BUT if it’s just the serial what should be programmed, this is possible with an alternative version of the BBS. I tested it, and it runs on almost all Intel based macs.

PS: including 2019 models. 2020 should be tested. New ones will not work because of the changed architecture

The problem is this tool works on black boards not ones that already have had a S/N already present.

"Blank-Board-Serializer used to burn SN into blank logic board (for Apple org boards only)"

Since 2012 Apple has stopped shipping black boards so this tool doesn't offer any benefit.
