acts lilke the earphones are plugged in when they are not

My original iPhone has recently started acting like I have my earphones plugged in and gives a message:this accessory does not work with this iphone. turn on airplane mode or off not sure.

check inside the jack for dust which might be tricking iphone to think headphones are inserted. you can remove this with toothpick or small tweezers.

Plug an unplug the headphones a couple of times realy fast, it's fixed it for me in the past

Cut the fuzzy part off a Q-tip & use the stem to clean out the headphone receptacle. Works better than a toothpick, and was able to fix my phone this way.
