How can I fix my volume up/down keys?

The volume up/down keys on my Surface Type Cover are not responding properly. Every time I hit one of them it either takes a screenshot or opens up the narrator. How can I fix this?

The simple fix to this issue is to hit the Windows key on your keyboard. The key might have gotten stuck or the tablet might’ve thought you were still holding down the Windows key, which is why alternative actions were activated.
