I have to hold my cable at the end connected to my ipod and push it so it will charge but that is a pain is there any other way to charge i have an appointment at the genius bar but i would still like to know

Try cleaning the charge port out with a tooth brush and 99% alcohol. 9 times of out of 10 there is dirt or lint causing issues and much cheaper than a charge port replacement, always try the easy way first ;) If it still continues then you will need to seek a charge port replacement. Note that the charge port replacement on this model is not a easy repair it requires soldering and patience to not break the lcd coming out.

Its your charging port. I had the same prob and i opened it up and replaced it.
