Replaced battery, now microphone doesn't work.

Hi all, I replaced the battery with a replacement from the website in my 5c. After the replacement I noticed that the microphone does not work anymore during calls.

I can still talk to people if I use the speaker mode. Siri can also hear me it appears that it's only during calls that no one else can hear me. I also tried testing it in voice memos and the microphone doesn't pick anything up.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me on what could have gone wrong? I know the microphone is part of the lighting connector assembly however I never touched that part/area while I swapped the battery.

Thanks!

Answer this question I have this problem too

To provide an update on this..

I picked up a 5c with a busted screen in order to get my hands on a microphone.

After swapping microphones between my 5C and the one with the busted screen.. I am still seeing the same issue. Microphone still didn't work.

So I assumed it was a logic board issue, so I swapped my screen over into the one that has a busted screen.. and the microphone still didn't work even on this other iPhone.

I am not sure what is going on here and I highly doubt that both microphones are busted.

I did notice if I really tap hard down by the microphone area it seems to pick up some noise.. but not clear enough to hear anything (sounds muffled sort of).

Anyone else have any ideas for me?

By any chance did you disconnected the charging port ?

Update (10/31/2015)

i will say the rubber of the microphone probably got lifted up a bit and is blocking the microphone i suggest trying to take the charging port off completely and resit it again this can happen accidentally when you lift the screen up.

Hi, no I did not.

I opened the phone again and checked everything and all appears to be connected. So I'm not sure what's going on?

Remove the grill from the microphone housing

by

What grill? There is no grill there except a rubber housing of sorts..

Not sure why the existing microphone wouldn't work.. not like these are brand new components and have some sort of additional protection/covers over them?

by

Yes they all do. On yours remove that grill. I wish i had a 5c with me to explain more.

Does this come with the iPhone 5c when you buy it? Mine has that but it also appears that some sort of cone sticks out of it..

I appreciate your help by the way.
