Why wont my HP G62 laptop charge?

so my laptop about a month ago started to have some problems. some of the problems consisted of it not charging if the power cord wasn't in a certain spot and also the power cord wasn't being held in very well. whenever i plug the charger the light that says that it is charging flashes for half a second then goes off and won't turn back on. i am thinking that the motherboard is fried because the fan on my CPU stopped working but i ordered another one about a week ago and it just got in when the charger stopped working. i have tried everything that i can think of to fix the problem but i just can't figure it out on my own.

John reed, you did not tell us if you replaced the DC jack. It is a separate harness on your computer. From your description I would definitely change the DC jack harness as well. Should it still not charge after that, and since you already replaced the motherboard, try a new battery as well. Go with the inexpensive part first.

i never did replace the dc jack due to not being able to find one. but i did replace the laptops batery about a month before it died. i'll look a little harder for a dc jack.
