Water damage, Strange GPU issue

Hello,

I had a Macbook Pro without a backlight issue and I asked for help here

Water spillage no backlight, fused fuse?

Now I managed to solder another LCD connector and the backlight is back. The problem is now I'm having a strange GPU issue.

Whenever there is a change between the discreet GPU and the integrated GPU my Macbook freezes and won't work unless I reboot it. For example, I turn it on and everything works until I open for example, iPhoto or Spotify or Chrome. The other way around also happens, if I turn the macbook on with an external monitor plugged they'll work fine until I unplug the external monitor. In that moment the macbook will freeze.

Has anyone experienced this issue? It's clearly something to do with the switching mechanism!.

Thanks

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Does someone have the schematic of this board? It's clearly a hardware issue that the switching is failing.

I downloaded the schematics but I'm overwhelmed by this. I have actually no idea where to start testing. I know the switch between iGPU and GPU is failing but no clue as to where this is in hardware

That sounds very strange indeed!

Would you be willing to attempt a windows bootcamp or booting a system on a usb to try and see if switching works in a different OS?

It sounds like a driver problem rather than a hardware problem because of no other problems than the lcd.

It's not a driver issue. I took it to Apple and they were unable to run the VST test as the screen suddenly goes black. Another example is, whenever I format the OS, I NEED another screen plugged into the HDMI as the internal screen doesn't show anything until the installation is complete. Very weird indeed.

The problem is that the mac is useless in this state, I'm unable to do anything that requires a little bit more of power
