new iFixit battery holds charge no better than old battery does

Hi all,

I finally got around to performing the battery replacement repair yesterday. It was a little challenging but went off without a hitch!

Except for the fact that the phone has no better battery life than my 2-year-old battery - in fact, it seems that it holds a worse charge. My old battery would die in the mid-afternoon with very light use, and this battery is following directly in its footsteps. It's almost like I never even changed batteries. Everything else with the phone works fine...it's just that the battery sucks.

Should I just return it or is this what I should expect?

Answer this question I have this problem too

I have a repair shop and every time i do a replacement i tell the customer it can be the battery or the software. In your case i would assume its the software. over time they can load up with info and apps and just drain even though the apps "appear" to be closed they are not. Do a software restore and delete any unwanted apps to see if this helps your problem.

Unfortunately, I just did a complete software restore and the battery still shows no improvement over my previous battery's poor performance.

Should I request a replacement from iFixit? Is this battery bad?

In this case I would report it to Ifix it and see what they say. I was also going to suggest doing the restore because sometimes there's software's that are chewing up your battery life. What you could also do is check what is using your location services. even though you do a restore the software may still be using location services. If that doesn't work report it to Ifix it.
