Is LCD screen for S5 Duos G900FD the same the regular S5?

Hello,

I broke the screen of my Galaxy S5 Duos (G900FD) phone and I cannot find an LCD screen for this specific model (or for a reasonable price).

Do you know if I can use the one for the regular S5 (G900F etc...) model ? As this one seems compatible with many sub references of S5, but I didn't see "FD" mentioned.

Thanks,

Damien

Hi there, I have changed numerous charger connectors on the S5 duos and it is tricky as all are not compatible. The one that I have on my S5 Duos LTE (Latin America Edition) is G900F SUB USB REV08A Connecteur Dock Port Flex Cable . Try to locate it on ebay or Aliexpress - it was pretty difficult to find. At least was for me, as you have to scroll through the images to see the part no. and often the picture detail is not good enough. Good luck.

..I have just scrolled through emails I sent to myself during searches for the part and came accross the following part link which is still available: https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/New-For-S...

All the best,

Michael

Hi Damien,

Be careful, I had a Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos and replaced the screen but my phone kept going into safe mode. The screen was an original but was missing the last letter of the specific model required. I took it to an official Samsung dealer and they said the motherboard was the problem. After ordering a new motherboard the problem persisted. I eventually found an original GT 9082L digitizer and screen and installed it having had the Safe mode problem for 2 years. The phone finally works like a dream!

If you have a S5 Duos with a model no. G900FD, I would strongly recommend that you get that particular screen. No software, firmware reset will get rid of the safe mode - at least that was the case for the older Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos model...

Good luck.

Michael

Hello Michael,

Thanks for this feedback but I've actually successfully done this repair and the phone is still working to this day, more than a year after.

The only issue I have is that I didn't remove enough of the old glue and the new screen doesn't stick perfectly, meaning it's off by 1mm at one place (and therefore not waterproof). But I am using a case that keeps it together and kinda waterproof.

Good to know there could be different experiences depending on model.

The Unit I ordered is from Samsung-parts.net and was labeled :

GH97-15959B Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900F LCD Screen Black-max 5pcs in normal lead time

Regards,

Damien

Good to know, glad u didn't experience the same problem of entering safe mode as I did when I replaced my Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos with a non-specific sub part number. Just to let you know in case you suffer the same problem in the below description, I have had the problem of recently repairing/replacing my charging module (USB dock connector) - as the connector eventually brakes - with a slightly different sub reference number and although the phone connects to the pc via micro usb it does not charge anymore! It isn't a battery issue as I have an external charger that does the job, but it does mean extra hassle of not being able to charge the battery with it in the phone...All the best, Michael

Hi there Damien, parts can be delicate especially when ordering screen replacements and digitizers if the model is not exactly the same. The phone protects itself by going into safe mode. I don't have personal experience with replacing a S5 sn900h with a S5 Duos but if it is really that much cheaper than try it - just make sure you get an Original Samsung part and not a knock off/generic part (which they should specify in the description!). If it goes into safe mode, all manner of resets and firmware upgrade will not get rid of the Safe Mode. In this case, and in the end, you will have to try and locate the compatible model for your sn900h. I have contacted Samsung directly regarding my previous screen and USB dock connectors and have found them to be technically unable to assist - at best! Good luck. Perhaps someone else will reply to you.

Hi Damien,

Do you know if the S5 SM G900F USB charger connector board etc, is the same as the G900FD? Almost impossible to find out. My duos is water damaged and won't charge due to ‘battery temperature low' warnings.
