If you can and do use the other batery in your device you void your warenty. Thats to start, then there is the batery over heating and damaging your device. Lets not forget its ideas as this that start fires in which folks die. You have been warned.

I kind of did my measurements by capturing images from the net of the real size and watching Nexus 5x teardown videos. I verified the same procedure with my Nexus 5.
I found that the Nexus 5x battery is around 70mm in length whereas the nexus 5 battery is 60mm. So no luck, this difference cannot be accommodated.
Will now go and purchase a Nexus 5 battery itself.
