Black/flickering screen when I awake from sleep mode or turn on...

I'm having to do a hard restart on my Mac Mini in order for my 27" Cinema Display to turn on or awake from sleep mode. It either stays black or flickers 3 times and then goes black. It's not every time I turn it on, but close to 60-70% of the time. Started suddenly. Clueless as to what to do. Anyone have advice? Monitor is about 3 years old, and my Mac Mini is mid 2010 model. No issues until now.

Do you have access to a second Mac? If you do see if you can access the mini remotely once the display is black. What happens then, did the display wake up and/or where you able to access the system?
