My iPhone 5C is stuck at the apple logo, wont go off

Hello, I bought an iphone off ebay, the seller said it had a software issue, and since I thought I may be able to fix it, I bought it. When it arrived, it was in a recovery - (connect to itunes). I downloaded the latest iOS, latest itunes, and connected the phone, and tried to restore using shift + select iOS. It would get stuck at "Waiting for iPhone" and then give an error 4005.

What I have tried:

Removed front camera

Removed LCD, Digitizer

Removed Rear Camera

Tried DFU, Tried Hard Reset

Tried another system (Win XP, Win 8, Win 10)

Tried another USB, same problem

I saw somewhere to remove the compass ic, or change battery, but I dont know how to or have a spare battery at the moment. I found a software - "ReiBoot" to take me out of recovery loop, now the phone is stuck at |Apple Logo| Will not turn off, or hard reset or go into DFU. It stays on apple logo till battery dies.

Please how do I fix it? Phone was bought in July according to IMEI, logic board shouldnt be faulty I think. Please, I may have wasted 110USD.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hmm. 4005 is an unknown error. Looks like you tried a bunch of things. You could try a force restart

You could also try disconnecting and then reconnecting the battery, I don't think you need a new one

Try restoring to a backup

by

Er, I mean putting it into dfu mode. I know it told you it was. But you should try putting it into dfu, then restoring to the backup

by

I don't have a backup. I'm trying to restore it anew. I have removed the compass ic and its still the same thing. This is frustrating! Still stuck at Waiting for iPhone on iTunes. Only thing I haven't tried are:

Replacing battery

Replacing USB

Heating A6 chip

This phone was bought in July, could it be a defective logic board from factory?

May have suffered from water damage, i would inspect the motherboard for any corrosion and clean the board with iso alcohol of atleast 91%, take a soft toothbrush and clean brush the board.

This, I would try this

Will try this and update. I am in Nigeria so I don't know if the "methylated spirit" would work because I don't have iso alcohol

by

Ok, just looked that up. I would not under any circumstances, use that to clean a logic board. It does say that one possible additive, other than methanol, to make this product, is isopropyl alcohol. So if you can find some of that, you're in business

by

Too late... Used Methylated spirit already. Phone wont turn on. Bad luck. :-(

by

I don't even know what Methylated spirit is but you need to clean the board with 92% or more of Isopropyl alcohol and soak it to cleanse the board the let it dry.Wish i could fix this board up for you but its all on you. B

It has now happened to me on 2 devices. Ipad pro and Iphone 6.

I took the Ipad into Best Buy and they have some secret software that fixed the issue.

This happened after being prompt to update Itunes.
