black screen on iPad

My iPad was knocked to the floor (stupid cat). Since it has had a black screen and been unresponsive. I will get a flash of the screen when I push the on/off button. I attempted to restore it using iTunes, but iTunes wants me to unlock the iPad with my passcode. I can't do that because I have a black screen. I tried the steps to unlock it if you've forgotten your passcode. No luck.

Any ideas?

Try putting it into dfu mode and restoring to a backup. If that doesn't take, then you've likely got to replace the lcd
