Toolkit Recommendation and Training Advice

Hello Everyone,

I am writing to ask for some advice regarding ifixit tool kits.

I have been an electronics technician in the semiconductor field and now must find employment. I decided that I want to pursue training in mobile device repair and maybe start a small business.

After reading the forum, it seems there is really not a technician training program and one must simply buy old phones and practice on them. But before I do that, I would like advice from some of the veteran repair folks on this forum and ask if I should buy tools ala-cart or purchase a ready-to-go ifixit tool kit.

In my experience, tool kits have a practice of including tools that you really will not use along with tools that will be used frequently. My goal is to minimize my start-up costs and purchase items that will give me the most bang for the buck.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

A kit like the one linked below may indeed have bits you will never need but if bought individually would cost twice as much. So in essence you get them for free: [linked product missing or disabled: IF145-072]
