How do I re-assemble my film advance lever

I have been having a lot of fun shooting with my father's good ol' Cannon AE-1 Recently, but the film-advance lever has been coming loose for a while now. The other day it came apart in my camera bag and when I re-assembled it, the lever was not catching. In fact there was a gap. I do not think i am missing anything. The pieces are: A wavey metal ring thingie, the lever, and a pin-screw cap. Is there anything missing? Do I need to assemble it in a certain way? Or maybe they are broken and need to be replaced? I can post images of it later tonight if you need it.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Okay so after a second look I dug deeper under a pocket in my bag and found a very important small little bit buried in there. The lever is now working, however it can still come off very easily. Just using it loosens it as has been usual for me. This can't be normal. Any thoughts? How to fasten it, or is there something else missing maybe?

Connor Postma, take a look at the service manual on how it all connects. You can download it from the bottom of this page
