Engine always cranks, but sometimes doesn't start

1999 Honda accord EX (2.3L)

Crank/runs for few seconds/sputter/die/not start/wait period of time/starts/runs great/never dies.

Engine always cranks, but sometimes doesn't start. This happens after the car sits over night or on restarts after driving. Wait a few hours and it starts again. The car never misses and runs great at any speed without any misses. Here are the error codes from AutoZone when they ran the check engine light diagnostic.

Note: I had the cadillac converter checked and it is in good condition.

1 A/F ratio concern

2 Air leak near HO2s (Heated Oxygen Sensor) bank 1

3 ignition system concern

4 Faulty Cadillac converter

Options

The ignition system concern is the most likely culprit. Possible crank sensor or ignitor if it has a distributor.

Re-solder/reflow or replace your main relay.

I have a 99 honda accord lx...Mine would die while driving but because it is a standard ignition it would start itself back up again and then here recently it started doing what yours is doing I would pull into the store turn off the car and it would just crank and die 6, 7, or 8 times before it would start up again....when this happens I would lose all my dash lights and radio and everything like there was no power going to it so I would jiggle the key and the car would eventually start...Honda had a recall on ignition switches for this year of honda in 2002...I bought the part and replaced it and it seems to be doing fine...just watch when this happens if you lose your dash and power to radio key buzzer ect. if you do then more than likely it is your ignitions switch.

Sounds like the key cylinder. Having a lot of keys on your key chain makes it get loose.

My 98 honda accord LX four cylinder, drives good. But when stopping for a little while & trying to start car back up, it want start. I got to hit the gas pedal a few times and let car sit before it start... No lights are on
