system will not turn on

Our Nintendo 3DS XL will not turn on. I have bought and installed a new battery and used a new adapter. The light comes on, but the device will not turn on.

No, the orange light comes on for a bit, no noise.

Does the blue light come on for a few seconds then the device powers off with a pop noise?
