Can it be separated LCD and glass top?

Hi, I just bought just glass top for iPhone 4 from eBay.

But I read the glass top and LCD panel cannot be separated.

Is that correct?

So, do I must to buy a glass top with already attached LCD panel?

Thank you, have a great day!

You can do glass only, but it's not for most people. The odds of failure are extremely high for a beginner.

For most people you're better off replacing the screen and assembly. This is more expensive, but it isn't prone to failure like the “glass only” method.

Hi

Nick you are not wrong at all

But people have had success with thin gold wire or playing cards which can do the trick like in this video by jerryrigeverything

@hellomacos while I revised how I wrote it I stand where I left it 11 years ago. The repair isn't for most people due to the complexity of a "glass only" swap. This is for people with nothing to lose, or shops.

100% agree

I though it might be worth a shot if they already had the device opened up and if they were to fail they would still have to replace the glass anyway with a new LCD with the glass fused together there for nothing to loose

But I still 100% agree with what you are saying :)

@hellomacos If you are prepared to write off the display that's one thing, but don't do it on a display you can't afford to totally write off. I've tried, but the panels were no good as it stood; I'm no good at it.

Mentally write it off before doing it, and make sure you can eat the cost of the write-off BEFORE trying.

Totally agree:)
