iPhone 5S on/off conector in motherboard broken (Tech Support says )

Hello, my friend sent an Iphone 5s (with a crash on it) to the shop where he bought it, they said that the on/off conector in the motherboard is broken, and that the only place that he can get it fixed is in a apple's store.

Did you consider that its necesary to replace the motherboard or it's not to difficult to repair?

Thank you.

fas1989, what do you refer to as the ON/Off switch? Post some images of the damaged part with your question. Use this guide for that. That way we can see what you see. BTW, Apple store will not fix component level parts.

hi! I am having the same problem...I guess. I suppose he was refering to the port on the motherboard on which the power/volume/led flex cable is connecting. Any one of you guys know how to fix that?

Typically repairing damage of this kind to the logic board on a device that is this old is not cost effective. It is most likely tat you can find a used or refurbished iphone 5s for less than the logic board repair.

The FPC can be replaced by a good micro-soldering repair shop. As @oldturkey03 says, Apple will not do any board level work, they will only offer you an OOW replacement.

Dane makes a good point that you will need to balance the cost of a port replacement with the value of the phone. That said, I believe most shops will not charge that much for the repair (I know I don't) and depending on the configuration of your device (16G or 32G or ?), it may still be worth investing some money on it.

Only your friend can make that decision.
