Ssd in optical drive bay not recognised

Hi, first sorry for my english,

I've got an Imac 21"5 late 2009.

My seagate HDD crashed so i replaced it by a wd green 3"5,

i bought a crucial Mx 200 to upgrade my machine,

I put it inside in place of the superdrive.

When i started my mac, only the hdd was recognised.

I installed el capitan on the hdd thinking the disk utilitary could help, but nothing happened.

Do i have to switch my hdd with the ssd ? How can i do this because the hdd is an 3"5 sized? May I exchange only the 2 sata cables and let each disk in their actual place? (I don't know if they are long enought)

Could the problem come from a wrong firmware on my mx200?

Thanks for your answers.

Open Disk Utilities and see if it sees the SSD. It so, format the drive GUID Mac Extended (non-journaled). Now see if you can access it.

UPDATE:

Not Compatible with a 2009 21.5" iMac

Try removing the hard drive, hook up the SSD drive to the SATA connectors. Insert your original system installation DVD and boot holding down the "C" key. Go to Disk Utilities and see if you can format the drive and then install a system. You can upgrade it later. Make sure the SSD is backward compatible to Serial ATA (3 Gb/s).

I will try this but my superdrive is now an external one. I'll will boot on an a usb key. I'm pretty sure the SSD will be recognized on the main sata bus, but what can i do with my brand new HDD? I don't want to use it as an external drive.

One step at a time. Get the SSD up and running, then you can try moving it to the optical bay and see if it will work from there. If so, then drop in your new hard drive.

Mayer - the Crucial MX200 SSD is a fixed SATA III drive. It does not have auto sense technology so while it may appear to work in a SATA II system it won't handle heavy stress.
