Why can't I insert a disc into my iMac?

I am positive that there is nothing else in my in my disc reader!

The problem is I can't insert any discs!

Can you please help me with any tricks or coding!

By the way I'm not looking for any answer to like replace the disc reader or take my iMac to the genius group in the apple store cause that would be a pain in the ass!

PLEASE HELP!

Well, I guess I can't tell you how to remove the optical drive so you can try to free it up or replace it ;-}

In case you do decide to give it a try give us the last four digits of your serial number so we can aim you to the correct IFIXIT guide and needed part so you can do it your self.

The only other option here is to use an external USB optical drive: A collection of possible drives

It's been awhile that I've needed to do it. I needed to convert some newer DVD disks to the older DVD format. The only issue I had with the Apple USB drive was needing to edit the configuration file. I do believe Apple has fixed this in the newer OS's.
