How to fix brightness control issue after water damage?

I have had water damage on my iphone 5s and the screen stopped working. Since then, I have cleaned the iphone 5s completely with recommended alcohol and thoroughly dried the components. I have also replaced the LCD screen. Mostly everything is working as normal but I cannot adjust the screen brightness (The screen is little dim and difficult to see in daylight). Any recommendations on what the issue could be and how to fix it?

Dim backlight is a tough problem. It is not likely the connectors, more likely corrosion on the display PMU or backlight driver which on the 5s is on the bottom of the board under the air holes in the shield. Once I've seen corrosion on the backlight coil cause dim backlight after water damage--but the coil is fairly well protected in the 5s. Cleaning a board without removing the soldered on shields is the same as doing nothing.

Unfortunately, that's a logic board task. The connector is a ZIF connector, and ZIF connectors are known for not properly connecting on the first try. Try reseating the ZIF display connector. If that does not fix it, then it is definitely the logic board, and you would have to find a new logic board or a new iPhone. Logic boards can be found here: [linked product missing or disabled: IF124-028]. Make sure that you pick up the one for your carrier. Transfer the SIM card over using the SIM Card Eject Tool (SIM Card Eject Tool).
