Touch screen doesn't recognize sliding finger

I replaced a broken digitizer and now the tablet doesn't seem to recognize when I slide my finger across the screen. It does respond to touch and I couldn't find any dead spots when opening apps but when I play a game that requires a sliding motion it doesn't pick it up. Is it a bad digitizer or a bad install on my part?

I took it apart again and re-seated the cables. I put it back together and was able to play fruit ninja and solitaire without any issues.
