My macbook has not been plugged in for over a year when I started it up it makes the normal startup sounds but when I type the keys only beep when pressed preventing me from logging in

Try using an external USB keyboard see if it works then.
The other direction here is to reset the SMC & PRAM.

Yes and screen looks normal.

There is no sign of any problems on startup ie 9 beeps signalling bad logic board....nothing. looks totally normal i just cant type. I should add the trackpad is fuctioning as normal too
