Power button not working after spill - laptop starts after power cord

Hi,

I had tea spill on 11" mid-2011 MBA.

the laptop went off straight away. After 4 days in silica gel took it apart and cleaned logic board with spirit (could see some spillage).

After putting it together the power button would not work. But the laptop fired up when I connected power cord (battery was showing some 45% at that time). Screen shot attached.

I tried to switch off with power - no luck, no response. Rest of keys seems working OK (though I cannot log into the account for some reason).

Any idea whether it's keyboard or something else gone?

Thanks a lot in advance,

If it runs after booting I would replace the keyboard as it appears to have shorted out.

I tried all the keys on login window: seems that a couple are not responding. new keyboard ordered.

Hook up an external keyboard to see if you can log in and isolate your issue to the internal keyboard.

OK - solved.

Keyboard was fried - not sure about the damage to the logic board (can see some signs of corrosion) - but 96% pure alcohol helped in restoring it to working order.

so far all working
