HTC One M8 camera keeps crashing randomly only while using rear camera

Hello,

My HTC One M8 (T-mobile) has been acting up lately. The camera crashes randomly when I open the camera app and use the rear camera. There is no error message, it just crashes and phones goes back to the home screen.

There are no issues while using the front camera.

I have tried other camera apps too, same fate.

Anyone facing similar issues?

I have tried force stop, clear cache, clear data, factory reset and even re-flashed the ROM. Nothing helped.

Update: both camera work fine with this app called OpenCamera, it does not crash like the HTC camera and Google camera app.

I am having the same problem on my m8(eye)...however the rear camera opens up sometimes when I restart the phone but it crashes soon....it been acting like this since I dropped it.....did u fix yours? How? Any help is much appreciated

Nope, It is a strange issue. Even the HTC support could not figure it out. The 3rd party apps still work fine. I was told the Marshmallow update fixes bugs, but now even on 6.0 the HTC app crashes. I am using the 'Camera MX' app these days.

Try snap camera, it's the best IMO.

Sometimes it is possible camera to crash because of an application you have installed. Try to restore the phone to factory settings and see if this help.

Don't forget to back up and do not restore before you try the camera.

I have this problem too with my m9 just shuts my phone down and drains the battery from high ninety to low thirty

I’ve reset my phone, the camera app itself to no avail

I have same problem on HTC evo 10 , the camera keep crashing whenever i open camera , but with third party app front camera works fine.I have tried factory data reset etc but nothing could resolved the issue .
