Why can I not remove the screws

I replaced the battery in my iPhone5 but when I put it back together, it would not power on but when plugged into the power source it shows that it is charging but doesn't charge. I attempted to take the battery back out but the screws on the bottom are just turning. They will not come out. The head of the screw is not stripped. Any answers or suggestions?

Sounds like you've stripped the threads. Could be pretty difficult to get those screws out
