Keyboard keys don't always register

Hi All - I purchased an ASUS N550JK in November 2014 with Windows 8.1 and have since upgraded to Windows 10. I am having issues with the keyboard when I type. For some reason, my keys are not picking up every keystroke when I type fast and it results in many typos. I have had this issue both with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. I tried updating the keyboard driver but that did not seem to help. It also seems like it might be a software thing rather than a hardware thing because it seems like the keys are more responsive in different programs. For example, as I am typing this, it has happened once or twice but when I open up Microsoft Word, it looks like I'm a beginning typer! Has anyone come across this before? I did some research and some people had success with uninstalling the Synaptics driver but it looks like that is an older driver since it didn't appear on my computer. Thank you in advance for your help!

IT could be a hardware issue, and replacing the keyboard would probably solve the issue, how long have you had the computer?
