How to dismount hinges

Hi,

I followed the guide "Display Assembly" up to the last step (34), but then, I still don't see how to dismount the hinges in order to proceed to replacement, since one is broken.

Did somebody succeed ?

From step 21 on of this teardown is the closest we have to a guide for taking apart the display assembly. The bezel is stuck to the LCD with adhesive strips instead of clips, which means removing it is extremely difficult. During our teardown we bent the bezel.

I haven't taken apart the display assembly, but if you really feel the need to, it may be helpful to carefully use a heat gun to loosen the stick of the strips. BE CAREFUL not to cook the LCD.

If I were you, I would replace the Display Assembly, and then scrap your old assembly for parts and sell them on eBay. If you hurt your display trying to just replace just the hinge, you will end up needing to buy the whole assembly anyway.

You need to remove the bezel in order to access the hinges. Use a heatgun or hairdryer to soften the adhesive double sided tape. Then you need to get in between the display and bezel with something slim like a spudger, credit card or a knife and work your way around the bezel. Once you have removed the bezel you can disassemble the hinges and remove the grey clutch cover by sliding it either way.
