Do Macs have bios or some diagnostic built-in software?

Frst time mac repair, 24 year pc tech. My daugther had a problem first with keyboard and second with mouse pad both fried up. So I installed super mouse and the tiny keyboard bluetooth both. I dismount keyboard top to verify if it was not well connected after reading some possible solutions but it was well connected to the board. Restore did not recognized both what else can I try to fix or diagnose top keyboard and mousepad.

Lamboy, Puerto Rico

Its a Mac-Book I override problem using usb mouse and keyboard but original problem is present.

Update

I think it is a A-1181 core 2 duo with a rare name santarosa or other rare name because it has 3 cables in the airport card as I remember and a different form in the right black cover were in my case the backup battery is visible.

Chosen Solution

No - nothing with user access. Sounds like liquid was spilled on the keyboard - either use the work around or replace the top case. Separate parts are not available - they come as one complete assembly.

Hey there, if you are good at dis-assembly, you may check the trackpad/keyboard ribbon cable. I had the same problem with a macbook pro.

Problem is, I haven't found somewhere that sells *just* that cable, so you may be looking at a few hundred dollars in parts for the whole top assembly.

Hope this helps!
