chad, since you did not tell us what make or model your phone is you can only get a generic answer. No backlight can be caused by multiple issues like a bad panel, a bad LED driver as well as multiple failed components like power coils, diodes and filters within the backlight circuitry. There is not one specific component that fails but a multitude of possibilities.
