My Macbook pro will not boot. On the underside of the computer is the serial #, no model number. I went to https://selfsolve.apple.com/wcResults.do

Based on apple, my macbook pro is ~VIN,MB Pro (15-inch, 2.53GHz, Mid 2009)

Serial Number: W89478GB7XJ

I need to change;

more ram 8gb

screw driver set for unibody, battery, hard drive, ram

Thanks,

Lance

Before you go overboard here let's see if we can get the system to run with what you have now. I would hate feeling you spend money on a new drive, batt & memory that won't be useable if the system is not repairable.

Can you tell us if the system boot up with just the power adapter plugged in and the battery removed. Does the battery have any charge in it when you press the batter check when you have it out?

Thank you for your reply. I took it to the genius bar at apple. It will power up however, the OS and desk top are not accessible. The tech said it needs a new battery and hard drive. He recommended I retrieve the data. I have not removed the battery because I need the tools.
