Dropped iPad now black screen

I picked up my iPad with protective cover, but fumbled, and dropped it approximately 3 feet to the floor, and landed flat; I picked it back up and screen was black, and would not power on. Can it be repaired?

Try a reset first. Hold the home and power buttons for 10 seconds and it should reboot.

If that doesn't work it will need to be opened and have the LCD cable reseated as it is likely that the cable got knocked loose when dropped. This is common in the iPad 2.
