Bent outer pin in USB port

Hi,

Yesterday I had difficulties plugging an usb device to my MBA. I took a look and found that one of the outer pin is bent (see the top left corner) :

I suppose these outer pins are only mechanical parts. Am I right ?

To solve the problem, is it safe to glue the bent pin to the top ?

You are very lucky here! One of the shield tabs is what you bent.

If you are careful you might be able to bent the front edge up a bit so the connector will fit in.

To do this you'll need a pair of dental probes one to wedge from the side as far back as you can without damaging the other tabs to hold the table from moving. Then using the other probe apply some pressure on the front edge. It shouldn't take much so a plug can go in.

Put the glue way! You don't want to make this worse.
