after battery install, screen doesn't snap in tight
I have r&r'd the screen several times but it doesn't snap in nicely along the top edge.
what am I doing wrong?

It's not meant to snap in on the top edge. Insert the top edge into the frame first, then lower the screen whilst holding it against the top of the frame.

Like Philip said, and make sure the frame is not bent or dented at the corner, thus preventing the screen from sitting properly.
