White mark/burn centre of screen (near rear Apple logo)

I've noticed recently that there are two long white marks on the screen visible on dark backgrounds approximately around the position of the lit Apple logo on the rear of the display. From what I've read elsewhere this may be due to previous pressure on the screen causing damage.

What I need to know is what has been damaged and if it's fixable/replaceable?

jgarnham, looks like either pressure marks or humidity/debris etc. build up on the diffuser. To try to determine whats going on you will have to take the LCD panel apart and investigate the diffuser sheets. That is a royal PITA and may be difficult to achieve. The other options would be to replace the LCD panel Check this guide for that. Lastly you could just leave it alone and learn to live with it.

The cause was likely pressure marks so it seems that the easiest/only solution (other than leaving it) would be to replace the LCD panel. Thank you for your help!
