iPhone 3G wifi not working

My iphone 3g has a grayed out "no wifi" option where the wifi button should be under settings. I've done every reset possible and concluded that it is a hardware issue. How can i go about opening the device and replacing the antenna or fixing it. thank you

replacing the antenna won't work. this problem is most likely a hardware or a firmware issue. i have seen those issues on iphones with corrupted baseband data after failed unlock attempts. others have real hardware issues.

did the wifi ever worked?

does the gps work?

i would first try to restore the iphone in dfu mode (click here for a how to) - maybe the baseband is faulty. don't forget to backup your data!

Hello Weiher, I have the same problem, but my IPhone is 3G 8Gb jail breaked with firmware 4.1.2. I already tried to restore firmware 4.1.2, 3.1.2 and Reset all settings (Network) and nothing happen. I really think that my problem is in hardware. What do you think about, How can I proceed to fix it? I'll try to cleanner with 90% alcohol, do you think is that a better solution?

Thanks in advanced,

Rafael Boschini
