Hard-drive not spinning up at ATA100. Need new LogicBoard?

Hello everyone,

I've got a MDD (DP 867 / 133MHz FSB) with a harddisk not spinning up when connected to the ATA-100 port. At the ATA-66 it spins up , but no target disk function / no boot up. When placed into an external hard-drive bay it works fine.

LogicBoard issue ?

If so ..

May it be possible to fit a FW800 LogicBoard (1474a) into a MDD with an installed LogicBoard "820 - 1380-A" ? Cutting out that port being compulsory . Are there compatible LogicBoards to fit in (eg. 820-1453a)?

Regards Jan.

Supplemental.

The system does seem to not respond to ANY inputs from keyboard, caps lock not working, fans speed up, heat-sink get warm after some time.

Try double checking and exchanging the HD ribbon cables.

Thanks for your reply !

No change at all .. tried all ATA ports - disk spins up on the 33 and 66 ATA channel, and remains silent on the ATA 100. It even starts when cable is unplugged while the computer is running.

I thought about this one >> http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie... <<

are all the boards (FW400) compatible to the 820-1308a? Do you've got a spare board for me?

All the mentioned steps would be helpful if only ribbon cable / harddrive or PMU error where present. This is obviously not the case here.
