Will not boot with battery plugged in or HDD

Hi,

I've just started having this problem today with my macbook A1181 2.0 Core Duo. The Macbook was working fine until the screen went black and it just switch off by if self. I tried booting it a couple of times with out success, therefore tried to boot it with out the battery and it booted. The only thing is that it gets to the apple sign just before the loading circle and switches off. Now I can't charge the battery and the Macbook will only boot without the battery in and only boots to the Apple start-up screen. Though when I takeout the hard drive and battery, is seems fine and dose not switch off, and remains with the flashing folder, indicating not hard drive or operating system. Though as soon as I put in the hard drive it will switch off at the loading stage and if I insert the battery it will not boot at all! I have tried a different HDD and a new battery to no avail.

Have you any ideas??

Try starting up from a system installation disk by inserting the disk and holding down the "C" key. Let us know what happens and we'll proceed.
