Trackpad click button doesn't work after liquid spill

Unfortunately, saliva from my 4 month old daughter fell on the trackpad while we were skyping with relatives. I quickly cleaned it up, but now the clicker on the trackpad doesn't work. Everything else is working.

I've tried to order a replacement part online, but this part still have the same fault, so I'm wondering if the problem might be somewhere else, either the upper keyboard housing, or even the logic board?

It's a bit baffling, as everything else is working fine.

It now turns out that the replacement trackpad I got was a dud. I will have to get a different one.

It would help to know which parts you have tried replacing. As for possible parts broken, there isn't a whole lot underneath the trackpad. That whole area is taken up by the battery. It sounds like you are saying your computer boots and runs, which means it is probably not a logic board issue.

We sell replacement upper cases here. I think this is most likely you problem.

Warning: We rate the Upper Case replacement as "Very Difficult" because everything in the computer screws into the upper case, which means everything must be removed. You sound like you know what you are doing, but if you are nervous, most repair shops will do the work for you cheap if you bring the parts.
