The touch screen has stopped working.

My Microsoft Surface Pro 2 is about 4 months out of hardware warranty and the touch screen has quit working. I have tried all the steps recommended by Microsoft:

Cleaning The Screen

Recalibrating (why would anyone recommend recalibrating a touch screen that does not respond to touch?)

Refreshing

Resetting

Power Drain and then recharging and rebooting without the keyboard

...and none have proven effective. Interestingly touching the Windows Symbol on the bezel works, but nothing within the screen itself. Every other feature works well.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

In my case the camera functions work properly from touch screen but out of camera basically nothing, the cursor does disappear when I touch the screen but that's about all. I conducted a factory reset and during the initial setup :language,region,etc..the touch screen worked perfectly but once completed and I'm at home screen nothing again, except camera of course. No cracks in screen.

Sounds like your digitizer has stopped functioning. Was the tablet dropped or is there a crack in the screen? If your comfortable with the idea of tearing it apart you can check the cables to see if they haven't detached. Ifixit has a tear down for this machine . BTW when I open phones or tablets with a heat gun I use plastic playing cards insted of picks and remember not to pry up any more than necessary

new digitizers can be found on Amazon or ebay

Hope this helps

Hi Jimfixer, thank you for this answer. In reply, this unit has not been dropped and the screen is not cracked. I was not planning on disassembling the unit and was focussing on the drivers or the operating system. Unfortunately for me Microsoft has disabled the "restore to previous version" on the Surface Pro 2.
