Common Logic board burn spot?

Hello

My cinema display started smelling weird and then shut down. I opened it and found the problem to be a burned spot on the logic board. No problem I'll just replace the logic board and then I can use it again.

So I was browsing for a new board when I saw a dutch thread with someones logic board also burned. But the weird thing is that the burn is at the exact same place.

Lukas Guy, it might help if you add some images to your question. That will allow everybody to see where the board gets damaged

Hi Lukas Guy, I have a Apple Cinema with probably the same issue. How did you replace this part? Where can i buy this part?

Lukas Guy, that looks like the LED driver. It is most likely a "common" failure if you have a short within the backlight circuitry. Any short there would take out that driver. I would suspect the primary offender would be the LCD connector.
