Trackpad Trouble - No responsiveness! Need to change it!

Howdy all. My trusty DVI Titanium PowerBook seems to have gone numb in the trackpad. However, there doesn't seem to be a way to merely replace the trackpad. It seems I'll have to buy an entirely new palm rest upper casing piece. I don't want to do that because they're too expensive and they all have paint wear, which isn't as nice as mine. Anyone have any solutions? (I'm looking at parts on eBay.) Thanks so much!

I used a portable for years (the cable stowed itself in the mouse body) very handy and gave me the right click options. +

So far as I know, the trackpad isn't replaceable by its self. Luckily, iFixit has you covered for quality Upper Cases. Or if you are looking for cheaper options, check out our Special Deals.

Are you sure it's the trackpad? Have you ruled out the ribbon cable? Sometimes just re-routing it from under the hard drive enclosure casing to up and over the enclosure casing can correct trackpad problems. Have you tried that &/or replacing the cable with a known good one? A bad pram battery can cause erratic trackpad action as well as an overheating logic board. Is your laptop fan(s) working ok? You can download iStat Pro to check your working temperature. There is NO software to control the DVI's fan speeds, but you can check it's temp.
