Startup Red Green Blue Display Test
Got this fro eBay. badly advertised, admittedly selling as faulty. Anyway, got it today and instead of showing the flashing folder icon, I get a display test? It flashes R, G, B. Then four black to white scales. vertical lines too.
Pulled the charger cable, got an apple loading screen from the Yosemite installer.
Placed my hand near the bottom right area of the upper case (near trackpad) screen comes back in.
Throughout all of this the screen flickers brightly then dimly randomly.
Do I need a new display?
Is this a good question?

Have you tried plugging in an external monitor to see if the image issue is the internal display or the GPL logic? I would start there.

Checked the flex connection, not so bad after re-seating it.
Tried again, seems to be working ok now...
Before I checked the connection, I hooked it up. I did get a grey screen on the external monitor. Although no HDD present...
