starting from the home button on top what is the very last thing that the cable plugs into? it looks like a miniature digitizer connector. I need the name of the whole component. It resides right below the center battery.

Do you mean the LCD board?
eBay search for "LCD-Power-Switch-Connection-Board-Flex-Cable-For-Apple-iPad-2" , it's a cheap part! :)
