Late 2013 i7 iMac 27" LCD failure -- Apple denied claim. Advice?

Long story short, my 24-month old Late 2013 i7 iMac 27" (fully loaded) had its LCD fail on me. Lines throughout. Plugged into Plasma TV via thunderbolt and get perfect video. The technician at the Apple Store today tried the same thing on one of their external displays. They confirmed the LCD is bad.

They denied my claim even when (nicely) escalated to a manager. They won't even pay for a part of it. Disappointing.

They quoted $606 for the repair.

If I can save money, I'll do it myself. I'm no stranger to fixing stuff. Before I order a new LCD (any good sources?), is there any hope to repair the current LCD? Maybe a ribbon cable?

Thank you. The one you linked is LM270WQ1 (SD) (F1)... mine is the F2 version . Does it matter?

Here's how to repair it: iMac Intel 27" EMC 2639 Display Replacement

It's Apple part # 661-7169-A and you should be able to find it for $310 new.
