Is it worth upgrading RAM?

Hi everyone !

I have a MacBook Core2Duo 2,13 Ghz (late 09).

I put an SSD into it, but the laptop tends to overheat. I also experience some freezes.

According to everymac.com, RAM can be upgraded up to 6gb (so 4gb + 2gb - I know it seems weird but apparently it works).

The thing is, 4gb DDR2 sticks are unsanely expensive, about 140$.

So I'm considering a 2*2gb upgrade.

My question is :

- do you think it will help the CPU to cool down (and the fan to slow down by the way !) ?

- will it make the computer be smoother ?

Thanks a lot guys !

First you need RAM Type: PC2-6400 DDR2 Min. RAM Speed: 800 MHz

and you only need one 4GB stick. The other can be a 1 or 2GB.

A single 4GB should run about $70.

Next the RAM is not your heat problem. Open the machine, remove the fan, blow it out and clean the vent.

If the heat problem persists, you may need a new application of thermal paste.

Thanks for your answer !

I don't find stick this cheap... seems to be the regular price for standard stick, not for 200pins ones.

Anyway, I think I'll consider upgrade with 2*2gb and then have a look on the thermal paste.
